Obituary

William C. "Bill" Tomasin, 88, of 512 Poplar St., Hurley, died Saturday, June 13, 2009, in his home. He was born April 20, 1921, in Hurley, son of the late John and Margaret (Uski) Tomasin, attended St. Mary's Grade School, and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1939. He then served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. Following his honorable discharge as an electrician's mate, second class, Bill received a degree in International Economics from the University of Southern California in Irvine. He was employed as an electrician at Convair Aircraft Corp. in San Diego for many years, until retiring and returning to Hurley in the early 1980's. He was married to the former Bernadette A."Dolly" Baruzzi in 1946 in Hurley. She died on June 21, 2009. Surviving are a brother, Joe B. Tomasin, Milton; and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and one great-great niece. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Louis and John; and two sisters, Mary Hatton and Lizzie Kulik. Out of respect for William's wishes, cremation has taken place.
