William Nicholas Tippett, 67, of Ironwood Township, Mich., died Friday evening, Feb. 10, 2017, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau, with his loving family by his side.      Bill was born July 16, 1949, in Ironwood, son of William R. Tippett and the late LaViolet (Nicholas) Marx. He attended Ironwood schools and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1967. He then worked at the Riblet Corporation and Schult Mobile Homes in Ironwood, and was employed as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Bessemer, Mich. for 35 years, retiring in 2001. He also served 8 years in the Michigan National Guard and was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Ironwood.      In retirement, Bill's passion was building street rods with his son Keith and his brother Rick. Since 1992, he attended Back to the 50s in Minneapolis. He loved playing golf and was a member of Eagle Bluff Golf Club in Hurley. He also was an avid softball player in range area leagues until his retirement. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his grandchildren; they were his life.              On May 6, 1972, Bill was married to Chris Peterson at Wesley United Methodist Church by the Rev. David Russell.      Surviving are his wife, Chris, of 44 years; son, Keith (Jessica), Ironwood Township; daughter, Debbie (Mike) Higgins, Spencer; four grandchildren, Leah, Chase and Judd Higgins and Kanaan Tippett; father, William "Chip" Tippett, Ironwood; brother, Rick (Sue), Ironwood; sister, Sharon (Ron) Poquette, Beaver Dam; nephews, Scott (Lynn) Richardson, Ironwood, Chad (Megan) Richardson, Fond du Lac, and Jake Tijan, Hurley; and numerous great-nieces, great-nephews and brothers-and-sisters-in-law.      Per Bill's wishes, cremation has taken place.      Private family services will be held at Wesley United Methodist Church in Ironwood.      Spring inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood.      Arrangements have been entrusted to McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Ironwood.
