Viola J. "Vi" Longhini, 95, of
E-5222 Margaret St., Ironwood Township, died Saturday, May 8, 2010, in
Ironwood. Vi was born June 10, 1914, in Ironwood, daughter
of the late Charles and Caroline (Hoven) Anderson. She graduated with the Class of 1932 from L.L. Wright High School and
attended Gogebic Community College. Vi was employed by the
Ironwood Schools for a number of years as a food service worker. She was a
life-long member of Salem Lutheran Church in Ironwood and a former Sunday School
teacher, a member of the Salem Seniors, Rebecca Circle, where she served as
secretary, and the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. She was also a Cub
Scout leader. Her hobbies included knitting, gardening,
reading and traveling to Wyoming and Milwaukee. She was married
to Leno C. Longhini who preceded her in death in 1971. Vi is survived by a son, Bob (Michele), of
Ranchester, Wyo.; grandsons, Richard (Debbie) Longhini, of Wind Lake, Wis.,
and Randy, Dan and Chris Longhini, all of Milwaukee; two great-granddaughters,
Cheyenne and Skyler Longhini; a devoted brother, James R. Anderson, Ironwood; a
nephew, Dave (Helen) Anderson, Georgetown, Tex.; a niece, Carole (Jack) Ahola,
White Pine; and other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents,
husband, a son, Richard J., in 1994; brothers Carl "Barney", Wally and Roger
Anderson; and sisters, Gertrude Stanley, Lucille Saari and Lorraine
Wierl. Out of respect for Vi's wishes, cremation has
taken place. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May
15, at 11 a.m., at Salem Lutheran Church in Ironwood, with the Rev. Francis
Strong officiating. VI's final resting place will be in the family
plot in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood. Relatives and friends may call at the church
