Obituary

Venita J. Bahun, 92, of Ironwood, died peacefully Wednesday morning, Nov. 22, 2017, in her home, surrounded by her loving family.      The former Venita Swanbeck was born March 24, 1925, in Ironwood, daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Erickson) Swanbeck,  and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1943.      She married Tony Bahun on May 8, 1943, in Ironwood. He preceded her in death in 1985.      Venita was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Ironwood, was active in TOPS Club for years, and was also active in school functions. An accomplished poet, she was published in Who's Who Book of Poetry. She enjoyed crafts and crossword puzzles, playing Greedy and Smear, and was an avid camera buff and reader. She loved her family immensely.      Surviving are sons, Larry, Wakefield, and Steve (Darlene), Abrams, Wis.; daughters, Kathy (Donald) Jossart, Luxemburg, Wis., and Bonnie (John) Kivi, Ironwood; six grandchildren, Brenda (James) Hernday, Michele Andre, Paul (Cherie) Barna, Shane (Amy) Kivi, Jesse Kivi and Brendan Bahun; nine great-grandchildren, Joshua, Nathan and Christopher Hernday, Matthew and Brian Barna, Courtney and Rachel Andre, and Hailey and Brooklyn Kivi;  one great-great-grandson, John Barna; five step grandchildren; eight step great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.      Besides her parents and husband, Venita was predeceased by a daughter, Linda Marie, in infancy; brothers, Barney and Herb Swanbeck; sister, Florence Nelson; and half-sisters, Elsie Carlborn and Signe Anderson.      Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 29, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 9:30 a.m., at Salem Lutheran Church in Ironwood, with Pastor Lisa Ubbelohde officiating.      Luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall.      Spring committal and interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood.      Serving as pallbearers will be Donald Jossart, Jim Hernday, John Kivi, Danny DeRizzo and Cookie Laguna.      In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Regional Hospice, 216 E. Aurora St., Ironwood, MI 49938.      Arrangements have been entrusted to McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home Inc., Ironwood.
