Obituary

Trina A. Korhonen, 52, of E-5405 W. Pioneer Rd., Erwin Township, Ironwood, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2007, in Ironwood, with her family by her side, following a courageous four month battle with cancer. The former Trina Colasacco was born June 4, 1955, in Ironwood, daughter of the late Anton and Anna (Alexandroni) Colasacco, attended St. Ambrose Grade School, and graduated from Ironwood Catholic High School in 1974. She was married to Richard H. Korhonen on July 27, 1974, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ironwood, by the Rev. Heikkinen. Together, she and Richard raised a family, becoming a stay-at-home mom. Trina was then employed as a motor route carrier for the Ironwood Daily Globe for ten years, and up until the time of her illness worked as a prep cook at the Iron Nugget in downtown Hurley. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ironwood, and enjoyed music and singing, walking and watching movies, interior decorating, and having home interior parties. She especially loved spending time with her family. Surviving are her husband, Richard, Erwin Township; a son, Nathan, of Ironwood; two daughters, Natalie Korhonen, Ironwood, and Shelley (Ken) McCracken, Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; a brother, Anton (Terri) Colasacco, Cadillac; three sisters, JoAnn (David) Heath, and Myra (Robert) Fall, both of Saginaw; and Madelyn "Mickey" (Joseph) Moon, Glendale, AZ; brothers-and-sisters-in-law, Wayne and Sophie Korhonen, Bessemer; Gene and Lucy Korhonen, Crystal Falls; Robert Korhonen, Hurley; David and Kathy Korhonen, Gile; William and Darlene Korhonen, Ironwood; and Linda Kritz, Bessemer; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides her parents, Trina was preceded in death by a son, Eric Ryan Korhonen, Oct. 8, 1980; and a brother, Louis Colasacco, in 1955. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 30, at 11 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ironwood, with the Rev. Larry Steckling, vacancy pastor, officiating. Committal services and interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood. Luncheon will be served in the church fellowship hall immediately upon return from the cemetery. Relatives and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. this evening at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N. Lowell St., in Ironwood, and again from 10 a.m. until service time at the church on Thursday.
