St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church

Officiant: Fr. Maria Joseph Kodiganti
Therese Germain Organist (Nee Niemsyk), 90, passed away March 9, 2026, at Westgate Nursing Home in Ironwood, Michigan, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's.
Therese was born in Ironwood to Frank and Germain Niemsyk in 1935. While attending high school in Ironwood, she met and fell in love with Gene Organist of Mercer and married right after high school.
Therese and Gene had a wonderful life together, raising their family and traveling, often with Gene's job. She obtained her real estate license when her oldest son went into high school, and it gave her great joy. Wherever Gene's job would take her, she would get her real estate license. It kept her very busy, but not so busy that she didn't find time for her family, sewing most of their clothes. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles to keep her mind "sharp".
Her later years were spent in Palm Desert, California, and Mercer, Wisconsin. After Gene passed away, she spent her winters in Florida with her son Richard.
Therese leaves behind her son Richard, Daughter Kathleen (Corey) Nolan, Grandchildren Max Organist, Sarah (John) Hoban, and Alicia Sanftleben, brother Paul (Ann) Niemsyk, as well as great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Therese was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Germain Niemsyk, husband Gene, Son James, brother Francis, and her grandson Mathew.
The family will hold services on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., for both Therese and her son, James, at St. Isaac's Jogues Catholic Church in Mercer.
