Theresa L. Pecotte Cummings,
72, formerly of Hurley, Wis., died peacefully Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at Westgate
Nursing, Rehabilitation and Assisted Living Community in Ironwood, with her
family by her side. The former Theresa Chiapuzio was born July 12,
1941, in Bessemer Township, daughter of the late William and Gertrude (Walczak)
Chiapuzio, and attended Bessemer schools and A.D. Johnston High School. She was
employed as a certified nurse's aide at Villa Maria Health and Rehabilitation
Center and Sky View Nursing Center in Hurley and Westgate Nursing,
Rehabilitation and Assisted Living Community in Ironwood, retiring in 2002. Her
interests included oil painting, baking and sewing. She especially enjoyed
spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was married to Fred Pecotte on Jan. 13,
1962, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Ramsay, by the late Msgr. Louis
Cappo. Fred preceded her in death on Jan. 14, 1999. She then married Ernest Cummings on Nov. 14,
2001, in Hurley. He preceded her in death on Dec. 23, 2008. Surviving are a son, Brian Pecotte, Ironwood;
two daughters, Charisse (Jim) Aldridge, Bessemer, and Caroline (Jason) Delich,
Ironwood; nine grandchildren, Zachary Smith, Amber and Heather Aldridge, Gavin
and Bree Delich, and Selena, William, Isiah and Victoria Pecotte; stepson, Lee
(Gina) Cummings, Ironwood Township; brother, Donald (Julie) Chiapuzio, Bessemer;
sister, Diane (Pat) Ryan, Pico Rivera, Calif.; brother-in-law, Joe Pecotte,
Hurley; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husbands, she was
preceded in death by a daughter in infancy; son, Gregory Allan Pecotte, Dec. 15,
2006; granddaughter, Melissa Lee Aldridge, May 1, 2000; brother, William
Chiapuzio II; and sister-in-law, Roberta "Bobbie" Pecotte, April 22,
2009. Per Theresa's wishes, cremation has taken
place. Memorial services will be held Saturday, March
8, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at McKevitt-Patrick Funeral
Home, 305 N. Lowell St., in Ironwood, with the Rev. Michael Hayden
officiating. Private interment will be in St. Mary's
Cemetery, Hurley, in the spring. Condolences may be offered to Theresa's
