Theresa M. Conhartoski, 92, of
105 Tenth Ave. S., Hurley, died peacefully Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, with her
family by her side, in Hurley. The former Theresa DeMario was born Oct. 15,
1917, in Ironwood, Mich., daughter of the late Louis and Angeline (Liberato)
DeMario. She attended St. Ambrose Catholic Grade School in Ironwood and
graduated from St. Ambrose High School in 1936. She was married to Roman Conhartoski on Feb.
28, 1937, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley, by the late Rev. Peter
Meyers. Roman preceded her in death on June 29, 1983. Theresa was employed as a dietician/supervisor
at Sky View Nursing Center and Villa Maria Health and Rehabilitation Center in
Hurley for 15 years, retiring in 1986. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church
in Hurley and it's Council of Catholic Women, and was active with the Iron
County Senior Citizens. She enjoyed knitting and loved to cook, and always used
to say, " Are you hungry? Come on sit down and have a sandwich." Surviving are a son, Roman "Muzzy", Hurley,
and daughter, Rita Zwetow, Mellen; 11 grandchildren, Roman "Muzzy" (Patti)
Conhartoski III, Gina Sue, Ryan and Nathan Conhartoski, Jodie (Kevin) Johnson,
Daniel (Jennifer) Rye, Darin (Kelli) Rye, Amy Gagan (Dan Hess), Troy (Liz)
Zwetow, Theresa (Corey) Huber and Ashley (Victor) Mitchell; 14
great-grandchildren, Tom, Cory, Trevor, Dylan, Ethan, Chris, Ally, Rachel,
Hanna, Mackenzie, Ivy, Walker, Marshall and Romi; a brother, Lawrence DeMario,
Green Bay; a sister, Sister Claude DeMario,Manitowoc; son-in-law, Albert Rye,
Ironwood; sister-in-law, Theresa DeMario, Grand Rapids, Mich.; her special
friend, Marci, of Hurley; her special neighbor, Lena; and numerous nieces and
nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Theresa was
preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ann Rye, on June 8, 2002; four brothers,
John, Louis, Thomas and Frank DeMario; a sister, Antoinette Petrusha; and a
son-in-law, Thomas Zwetow. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
Thursday, Dec. 3, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley, with the
Rev. Michael Hayden, celebrant. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in
St. Mary's Cemetery, Hurley. Luncheon will be served in the parish hall
immediately upon return from the cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church
from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday. Theresa's grandchildren will serve as
pallbearers and her great-grandchildren as honorary pallbearers. Online condolences may be given to the family
