Sylvia M. Malik, 100, of Ironwood, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2007, in Hurley. She was born May 4, 1907, in Milladore, Wis., daughter of the late John and Anna (Chinadl) Hardina, and attended Milladore public schools. She moved to Milwaukee and worked for Milwaukee Linen Supply and American Linen Supply, retiring as supervisor in 1970 and moving to Ironwood. She returned to Milladore in 1987, moving back to Ironwood in 1994. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ironwood. Sylvia married John Hautala on June 5, 1943, in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death Dec. 17, 1983. She then married Joseph Malik on Dec. 5, 1987, in Milladore. He preceded her in death Oct. 28, 1993. Surviving are two stepsons, Marvin (Laura) Malik, Bloomfield Hills, Mich., and Marcus (Laurie) Malik, Washington, VA; three step-grandchildren and two step- great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husbands, Sylvia was preceded in death by brothers Ray, William, Frank and Victor Hardina; sisters, Veronica Vander Grinten and Elsie Hardina; and a sister-in-law, Agnes Graf. Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 31, at 11 a.m., at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N. Lowell St., in Ironwood, with the Rev. Christian Muellerleile, officiating. Committal services will be held at the funeral home, with interment to follow in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood. Visitation will precede the service, beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Friday.
