Sophia Korhonen, 74, of Bessemer, passed away peacefully at her home with her husband by her side on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.

Sophia was born on August 10, 1950, in Austria to Thadus and Sophie (Szatkowska) Baginski. She was united in marriage with Wayne Korhonen on April 9, 200,5 at the Transfiguration Episcopal Church in Ironwood. Sophie worked at Kmart for over 30 years. She was the secretary and treasurer for the Transfiguration Episcopal Church. Sophie also enjoyed bowling, and spending time with her family.

Sophie is survived by her husband, Wayne; son, Luke Alan (Jody) Kovales; brother, Ed Baginski; sister, Mary Baginski; granddaughter, Emma; and her grandson, Ben. Sophie is further survived by many other relatives, friends, and her dog, Peppy. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service for Sophie will be held on Friday, April 4, 202,5 at 11 a.m. at the Transfiguration Episcopal Church with time to gather following the service.
