Sirpa Aune Marjatta Johnson of Hurley, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026.

Born April 1, 1946, in Helsinki, Finland, Sirpa was one of eight children. Sirpa was raised in Helsinki and first arrived in the United States in 1967. She later became a proud U.S. citizen.

Sirpa married James R. Johnson in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on May 9, 1970, sharing 56 years together and raising three children.

Sirpa was a woman of great faith. Her trust in God, bible studies, prayers, and church community gave her hope and strength each day.

Sirpa embraced life (skydiving for her 50th birthday!) and had an eye for beauty. Her style shone brightly in all she did, from design work to fashion choices. She was an interior designer who enjoyed helping her clients transform their homes. Sirpa was always the best-dressed person in the room.

Sirpa’s greatest joy was her family – her husband, children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews. She was a loving wife, mother, mummeli, daughter, sister, and aunt, and a compassionate friend to all. We will all miss her so much.

Sirpa is survived by her spouse, James R. Johnson, daughters Stina A. Kayser (Gary) and Carolyn S. Johnson (Dave) and son Michael J. Johnson (Marrie). She is also survived by her grandchildren Anikka S. Morrison and Brittany M. Johnson, as well as her siblings Tero Wiemero (Melody), Timo Wiemero (Nancy), Sinikka Nelson (Bruce), Siro Derrer-Brooks (Richard), Sirjo Knie (Randy), Sirvo Wiemero (Mary), Sirkku-Liisa Johnson, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Johan W. Wiemero and Aunekyllikki Wiemero, as well as brothers-in-law Robert Johnson and Gary Derrer, and sisters-in-law Sue Wiemero and Lynn Wiemero.

A memorial service will be held on August 15, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Range Community Bible Church in Hurley, Wisconsin. Donations may be made in Sirpa’s memory to Range Community Bible Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
