Obituary

Shirley M. Noren, 76, of Ironwood Township, Mich., died Friday, June 4, 2010, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau.      The former Shirley M. Munier was born May 13, 1934, in O'Fallon, Ill., daughter of the late Alphonse and Marcella (Faulk) Munier, and graduated from high school in O'Fallon.      She married Donald J. Noren on Nov. 7, 1953, in O'Fallon. The couple lived in Valparaiso, Ind for a short time, and moved to Ironwood in 1954, where they raised their family. Donald preceded Shirley in death on Jan. 29, 1979.      Shirley was employed as a sales clerk at Vertin's in downtown Ironwood for many years, and at the Ben Franklin Store in Ironwood at the  time of her death.       She was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Bessemer, Mich. where she served on the Parish Council and was a member of the Daughters of Isabella. She served as a clerk at the Gogebic County Fair for many years, and loved gardening and decorating her home.      Surviving are two sons, Brad (Laura), Ironwood Township, and Bruce (Amy), Ironwood; four grandchildren, Ben and Daniel Noren, Ironwood Township, and Brent and Camber Noren, Ironwood; a brother, Glen "Sonny" (Connie) Munier, Idaho; two sisters, Ercell Papproth and Marlie (Jeff) Paxson, both of O'Fallon; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.      Out of respect for Shirley's wishes, cremation has taken place.      Memorial services will be held Wednesday, June 16, at 11 a.m., at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N. Lowell St., in Ironwood, with the Rev. Michael Hayden officiating.
