Obituary

Searle Charles Watts, 20, of 1998W Beaver Lodge Rd., Mercer, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Mercer.      He was born Jan. 13, 1990, in Tacoma, Wash., the son of Richard and Carrie (Scarpitto) Watts, attended Mercer Grade School, and graduated from Mercer High School in 2008. He then attended Gogebic Community College for a semester and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee for a semester.      Searle lived in Frisco, TX  for six months, then returned to Mercer, where he currently was employed at Hitch Exclusives in Manitowish Waters and Beaver Lodge.      He enjoyed playing sports, and loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and golf. He always had a smile on his face   and was well liked by everyone of all ages. He was a member of St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in Mercer.      Surviving are his parents, Richard and Carrie Watts, and sister, Erica Watts, all of Mercer; paternal grandparents, Charles and Rosalie "Mickey" Watts, Mercer; maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Sinclair, Adams, Mass.; aunts and uncles, Charles and Karen Watts, Mercer, Deborah Watts, Arlington, TX, Lisa (Watts) and Steve Feigley, Silver City, N.M., Donna (Watts) and Erland Saarnio, Gerald and Arlys Watts, and Douglas and Jill Watts, all of Mercer, James and Keri Watts, Frisco, TX, James and Kerri Scarpitto, Pittsfield, Mass., and Eric and Michele Scarpitto, Adams, Mass.; numerous cousins; and many good friends.      Searle was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Anthony Scarpitto, of North Adams, Mass., on Dec. 31, 2005.      Out of respect for the family's wishes, cremation has taken place.      A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Aug. 27, at 11 a.m., at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in Mercer, with the Rev. Michael Hayden, celebrant.      Rite of Committal will take place at the church, with a luncheon to follow in the parish hall.      Private inurnment will be in the Mercer Cemetery.       Visitation will be at the church from 6 to 8 p.m on Thursday, and from 10 a.m. until Mass time on Friday.      To view Searle's obituary online, sign the guestbook or express condolences, visit mckevittpatrickfuneralhome.com.      Arrangements are entrusted to McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Ironwood.
