Obituary

Rose M. Kolesar, 91, of 37 Newport Heights, Ironwood, died Monday evening, April 28, 2008, surrounded by her loving family, in Ironwood. The former Rose Mesich was born March 3, 1917, in Ironwood, daughter of the late John and Anna (Yelich) Mesich, attended local schools, and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1935. She attended Woodward Business College in Ironwood for one year, and was employed in office work at Newport School and as a clerk at the S.S. Kresge Co. in downtown Ironwood. Rose was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood, where she sang in the Mixed Choir and the Resurrection Choir. A former member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, she taught catechism, belonged to the Altar Society, served on the funeral lunch committee and was Prefect of the Sodality. She will long be remembered as being a wonderful cook. Rose loved her family and will be dearly missed by all who loved her. She was united in marriage to Clement C. Kolesar on April 2, 1944, at Holy Trinity Church by the Rev. Schulik. Clem survives. Also surviving are four sons, Clem (Cindy), Troy, and Richard (Barbara), James (Sharon), and Tim (Megan), all of Ironwood; six grandchildren, Pamela (David) Dahl, Lakeville, Minn., Jennifer (Joseph) Springhetti, Oconomowoc, Wis., and Kristin Kolesar, Tim Kolesar Jr., Maighlin Kolesar and Lisa Kolesar, all of Ironwood; two great-granddaughters, Emma Grace and Elle Faith Dahl, both of Lakeville; a brother, Michael (Ann) Mesich, and sister, Ann Shea, both of Ironwood; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Julia Schaeffer, Minneapolis, Michael and Regina Kolesar and John Kolesar, all of Sacramento, Calif., and Regina Kostelnik and Bernard "Bobo" Kolesar, both of Ironwood; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Rose was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Carrie Ann Kolesar, in 1970; a brother, John Mesich; and sister, Mary Rajkovich. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, May 2, at 11 a.m., at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood, with the Rev. Darryl Pepin, celebrant. Rite of Committal will take place in the St. Joseph Family Room at the church, with a reception to follow in the parish hall. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood. Relatives and friends may call in the St. Joseph Family Room at the church beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Friday. Pallbearers will be Clem, Richard, James and Tim Kolesar, David Dahl and Joseph Springhetti. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in memory of Rose to the family for a scholarship at Luther L. Wright High School.
