Obituary

Rose Bozicevich, 100, of Ironwood, Mich., died Friday, April 22, 2011, in Hurley.      The former Rose Barkovich was born Aug. 28, 1910, in Aurora, Minn. to the late Paul and Mary (Chulinovich) Barkovich, and came to Ironwood at the age of fifteen.      She was married to John Bozicevich on Oct. 16, 1926, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Ironwood by the late Rev. Peter Sprajicer. Together, they raised their family.        John preceded her in death in 1965.      Rose was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood and the former Holy Trinity Catholic Church. She loved to sew, and was employed as a seamstress at Stern & Field in downtown Ironwood for ten years. She also enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, and loved her animals. She was a genuinely wonderful person, and was the last surviving widow of a survivor of the 1926 Pabst Mining Disaster.      Surviving are a daughter, Julie Ann (Tony) Paris, Elmhurst, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.      Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Bozicevich, in infancy, in 1927; three sons, Joseph "Joe Boz" in 2006, Charles and John Bozicevich jr.; two brothers and three sisters.      At the family's request, cremation has taken place.      Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 23, in the St. Joseph Family Room at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Darryl J.
