Ronald E. Siirila, 72, of Ashland and a longtime resident of Pioneer Park Apartments in Ironwood, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2016 in Ashland. He was born January 20, 1944 in Ironwood, son of the late Emil and Bertha (Kivi) Siirila. Ronald attended Ironwood schools and graduated from the Luther L. Wright High School with the class of 1962. He also attended Northern Michigan University in Marquette. He was locally employed by Ahonen Lumber Company, Carlson's Bakery, Joy C's Cafe and Simpson Electric. He was a member of the Norrie Club of Ironwood and played on their softball team. He played poolandbowled in the area leagues where he received many trophies. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan and loved fishing. He is survived by a brother, Harold (Jean) Siirila of Wadena, Minn. and a sister, Joyce (Don) Reid of Ironwood. Ronald is also survived by nieces and nephews; Brenda (George) Bunnell of Maple Grove, Minn., John (Lourdes) Silvestri of Mission, Texas, Linda (Tom) Panich of Appleton, Karen (Glen) Lownsbery of Lake Elmo, Minn., Chris Ann (Allen) Johnson of Spokane, Wash., Michael (Christine) Bachand of Iron Mountain, Jeffrey Bachand of Ironwood, Karen (Fred) Freeman and Linda (Paul) Fox both of Columbia, South Carolina. Also surviving is a special friend Nancy Sass of Ironwood. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Siirila. Cremation will take place at the Range Crematory in Hurley. A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2016 at the Assembly of God Church in Ironwood, MI, with Rev. Mark Ortman officiating. Ronald's family will receive family and friends at 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Saturday.I nurnment will be in the Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood.
