Roland H. "Rollie" Bessett, 63,
of Pence, died peacefully Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at home, surrounded by his
loving family, following a lengthy illness. He was born Nov. 21, 1948, in Hortonville,
Wis., son of the late Benard and Minerva (Blank) Bessett, and graduated from
Hortonville High School in 1966. In his early years, Rollie worked as an auto
mechanic while owning his own gas station, Scotty's Service, in Belle Plaine,
Wis., and later owned and operated Poacher's Inn Tavern in Hortonville. After
some years in the tavern business, he began pursuing his dream of owning his own
fishing retail shop. First he started doing taxidermy and guiding in Pelican
Lake and Rhinelander, Wis. This led to the creation of Rollie and Helen's Musky
Shop in Minocqua, Wis., in which he owned and operated until his retirement in
2002. After much success with his musky business and mail order catalog, he
finally retired in Pence. It was here that he enjoyed the time spent with his
special loved ones, children, grandchildren, and his faithful Labrador
Retrievers. Survivors include two sons, Brandon Bessett,
Green Bay, and Cody Bessett, Rhinelander; three daughters, Tammy (Gary)
Bessett-Waterhouse, Chetek, Brenda Bessett, Shawano, and Lindsey Bessett,
Argonne; ten grandchildren, Alexis, Chuckie, Jordan, Brittney, Brandon, Mason,
Mckenzie, Jackson, Caleb and Morgan; a sister, Bobbie (Merle) Litzinger, and
niece, Cheri, both of California; and special loved ones. Per Rollie's wishes, cremation has taken
place. Private family services were
held. Interment will be in Union Cemetery,
Hortonville, at a later date. Condolences may
