Obituary

Rodney Joseph Robinson, 72, of Ashland, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016 in St. Paul, MN. He was born August 9, 1943 in Auborn, California, the son of the late Robert J. Robinson and Ruby (West) Robinson. Rodney was a proud U.S. Army Veteran. On January 10, 1970 he married Susan M. Felhofer in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Rodney worked as a pressman for Northwestern Paper in OshKosh. Once he moved to Ashland he worked at Montgomery Ward Co, and as a car salesman at Egan Motors and Wally Motors. He was the owner and operator of Dynamic Decorating in Ashland until his retirement. Rodney was active in the Lions Club. He enjoyed racing, especially at the ABC Raceway, and volunteering at the racetrack. Rodney was avid fan of college basketball including Rob''s games and enjoyed all Wisconsin sports. Rodney loved fishing and on warm days he could be found putzing in his garage. He supported activities in the community and enjoyed meeting and talking with people. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Susan; his son, Robert (Diana) Robinson of Menominee, WI; daughters, Sondra Jacobi of Vancouver, WA, and Debra Jacobi of Washougal, WA; grandchildren, Breann and Rebeka Robinson of Ashland, Brent and Dain Grosman, Hunter Tripet all of Washougal, WA; great-granddaughter, Macie Ellias of Ashland; step-mother, Esther Nohl of Washburn; step-parents, Clyde and Leona Robinson of Oshkosh; brothers, Joe (Karen) Robinson of Traverse City, Michigan, Dana (Marie) Robinson of Oshkosh, Jay (Pat) Robinson of Oshkosh, Michael (Jackie) Robinson of Red Granite; sisters, Pam (Don) Shilliam of Spokane, WA, Bobby Jean Opatik of Washburn; and brother-in-law Monty Garrett of Idaho Falls, ID. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Katherine Garrett. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 12 noon on Monday, April 25, 2016 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Ashland, with Fr. Paul Paré as celebrant. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church. Military Rites accorded by The United Chequamegon Bay Area Veterans Post #690 Honor Guard will follow the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to "The Fisher House" which provides military families housing close to a loved one during hospitalization.
