Obituary

Roberta Elizabeth "Bobbie" Smith, 57, of Hillsboro, formerly of Ironwood, Mich., died Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at Heartland of Hillsboro Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hillsboro.      The former Roberta Avery was born Feb. 28, 1953, in Ironwood, daughter of Mary Elizabeth (Martin) and the late Earl John Avery. She attended Central Grade School and graduated from Luther L. Wright High in 1971. She then attended Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City for two years and received an associate's degree in accounting.      Bobbie was a member of the Tri-Kappa Sorority of Elwood, Indiana and had been associated with Job's Daughters in Ironwood. She was also a member of the former Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps in Ironwood and was a candy striper at the Grand View Hospital. She and her family had resided in Hillsboro for the past ten years. The true joy of her life was her family and grandchildren.      She is survived by her husband Daniel, to who she married Sept. 4, 1971 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Ironwood; mother, Mary Elizabeth Avery, of Hillsboro; son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Coreen Smith, of West Chicago, Ill.; daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Victor Coker, of New York, N.Y.; and two grandchildren, Colin and Carter Smith.      Besides her father, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Andrew John Smith; and brother, Gary Avery.      Funeral services will be held Monday, July 12, at 1 p.m., at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N. Lowell St., in Ironwood, with the Rev. Jean B.
