Roberta R. "Bobi" Pecotte, 72, of 306 4th Ave. No., Hurley, co-owner and operator of the Liberty Bell Chalet in downtown Hurley, died Wednesday morning, April 22, 2009, in her home, surrounded by her family, following a brief illness. The former Roberta Lehocky was born March 16, 1937, in Ironwood, Mich., daughter of the late Fred and Betty (Fontecchio) Lehocky. She attended St. Mary's Grade School in Hurley and graduated from J.E. Murphy High School there in 1955. She married Joseph C. Pecotte on Nov. 5, 1955 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley. They lived in Germany where Joe served in the U.S. Army until 1958, when they returned to Hurley where Bobi worked for her grandparents, Bernardino and Carmella Fontecchio, at the Liberty Bell. They then moved to Las Vegas in 1962, and returned to Hurley in 1966, where Bobi worked for her mother, Betty Lehocky, at the Liberty Bell Chalet. Joe and Bobi then purchased the Liberty Bell Chalet following Betty's death in 1989, operating it to the present time. Bobi was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley and Eagle Bluff Golf Club. Oil and water color painting was her hobby, and she enjoyed traveling and spending winters in South Carolina. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bobi had the best sense of humor and what her family will all remember the most was her infectious laugh. She always had fun in everything she did. Surviving are her husband, Joe; a son, Scott (Julie), Montreal; five daughters, Terri (Matt) King, Hurley, Michelle (Dan) Pozzani, Montreal, Andrea (Mark) Kivisto, Menomonee Falls, Gina (Jim) Kivisto, Hurley, and Jerri (John) Sokol, Montreal; 19 grandchildren, Samantha, Kirkie and Gabby Pecotte, Montreal; Sonni (Scott) Lauren, Montreal, and Scott Mieloszyk, Hurley; Joe Anderson, Hurley, Chrissy Anderson, Wausau, Garyn (Mike) Partanen, Bessemer, and Dominic Pozzani, Montreal; Micki (Jason) Rowe, Montreal, Nicole Zanella, Hurley, and Tyler, Brandon and Amber Kivisto, all of Menomonee Falls; Jessica Frello, and Cody and Cole Kivisto, all of Hurley; and Jaxon and Julia Sokol, Montreal; 10 great-grandchildren, Trinity, Tavin, Mackenna, T.J., Michael, Gabe, Aiden, Greyson, Cade and Jack; sisters-in-law, Janna (Bruce) Arbic, Albert Lea, Minn. and Theresa Cummings, Hurley; nephews, Adam Lehocky, Minneapolis, Matthew Lehocky, Texas, and Brian Pecotte, Michigan; and nieces, Charisse Aldridge and Caroline (Jason) Delich, both of Ironwood. Besides her parents, Bobi was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Craig Pecotte, in 1963; her brother, Mitchell Lehocky, in 1981; and a nephew, Greg Pecotte, in 2006. Out of respect for Bobi's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, April 27, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley, with the Rev. Michael Hayden, celebrant. Rite of Committal will take place at the church, with a luncheon reception to follow at the Liberty Bell Chalet. Private inurnment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hurley. Relatives and friends may call at the church beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday.
