Obituary

Robert Anthony Sertic (Cheetah) passed away on June 27, 2026, at the Villa Maria.

He was born on October 2, 1935, in Ironwood, a son of Peter & Mary (Kapets) Sertic. He attended Luther L Wright High School and graduated in 1953. In 1954, Bob served as a Corporal in the Marines, stationed at 29 Palms in California. He was honorably discharged in 1957. After a few jobs, he ended his career as a UPS driver. Bob married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Holst, in 1955. Together, they had two children, Michael & Susie.

Bob was always interested in sports. He played football, basketball, baseball, and track in high school and excelled in all. In 2025, Bob was honored with induction into the Ironwood Area Sports Hall of Fame. He loved hunting, wood carving, and making model airplanes. He donated over 200 WWI & WWII airplanes to Michigan Tech University to the ROTC program, along with the history of each plane. He always had a smile on his face and humor to go along with it.

Bob was preceded by his loving wife of 69 years, Nancy; his parents; 3 brothers, George, John, Jim; and two sisters, Florence and Jeanette.

He is survived by his two children, Michael (Bitte) Sertic, Sue (Barry) Pertile; 5 grandchildren, Dan (Tiffany Maki) Sertic, Max (Megan) Pertile, Ben (Tish) Sertic, Brittany (Eric) Schneller, and Alex Sertic. 9 great grandchildren, Elle, Mason & Bristol Schneller, Luke, Janie, Hallie, Kaija & Jack Pertile, and George Sertic; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Bob will take place on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, from 10 a.m. to the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m., with Fr. Brian Gerber officiating.

The family would like to give their extreme appreciation to everyone at the Villa Maria Health & Rehabilitation who went above and beyond and treated us like family!

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bob's name can be directed to the Ironwood Area Sports Hall of Fame, 650 E. Ayer St, Ironwood, MI 49938.
