Robert E. "Bob" Barnabo, 77, of
Pence, died unexpectedly Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, at home. He was born June 30, 1936, in Hurley, son of
the late Dante and Leocadia (Cybulski) Barnabo, and graduated from J.E. Murphy
High School in 1954. He then spent two years in the Wisconsin National Guard.
Bob was director of maintenance at Villa Maria
Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hurley for over 25 years, retiring in 2006.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley, and enjoyed fishing and
repairing computers. A loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather,
brother-in-law, uncle and friend to many, Bob will be missed. On Feb. 23, 1957, he was married to the former
Kathleen Baima at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Pence. She
survives. Also surviving are three sons, Geoffrey
(Pamela), Lakeville, Minn., Mark (Jane), Alvin, Texas, and Robert (Anna),
Hurley; two daughters, Robin (Marty) Schmitz, Prior Lake, Minn., and Linda
Barnabo, Pence; 10 grandchildren, Nicole, Shawn, Matthew, Scott, Ashley,
Michelle, Jennifer, Lauren, Steven and Stephanie; seven great-grandchildren; a
brother, Donald (Arloa), Manitowish Waters; brother-and-sister-in-law, Lawrence
and Geri Kutz, Hurley; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Bob was preceded in death
by two brothers, Robert James in infancy in 1931, and John "Jack", on Nov. 18,
1981. Out of respect for his wishes, cremation has
taken place. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
Friday, Dec. 20, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at St.
Mary's Church in Hurley, with the Rev. Frank Kordek OFM, celebrant. Luncheon will follow in the parish
hall. Rite of Committal and interment will be in
Hillside Cemetery, Iron Belt, in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made to the
