Obituary

Robert W. Adamavich, 74, of 10972 W. Curry Rd., Gurney, died unexpectedly Friday, Oct. 15, 2010, in his home.      He was born Dec. 5, 1935, in Sheboygan Falls, Wis., son of the late Joseph and Marcella (Rowe) Adamavich, attended grade school in Gurney, and graduated from Saxon High School in 1953. He then worked on the pipeline and on the family farm in Gurney, was employed at Splicewood Corp. in Ashland, and logged with Roger Bjork in Upson, prior to serving stateside in the U.S. Army at Dougway Proving Grounds in Utah from 1958-1960.       Following his honorable discharge, Bob returned to Gurney and worked at the Swanee Spud Farm and for Bernie Mickel Logging out of Mellen, retiring after 31 years of service with the Town of Gurney in 1999.      His hobbies included woodworking, gardening, leatherworking and working in his sawmill.      Bob was a devoted and hardworking town employee, and a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle. He will be dearly missed by all.      On Oct. 17, 1959, he married Rita Nelson in Salt Lake City, Utah. She survives.      Also surviving are three daughters, Jody Lynn Talbot, West Jordan, Utah, Terri Marie (Chad) Soare, Gurney, and Laura Lee (Harry) Cunningham, Moberly, Mo.; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a brother, Roger, Gurney; numerous nieces and nephews; and brothers-and-sisters-in-law, Marlin and Dorothy Nelson, West Bountiful, Utah, and Delmon and Pam Nelson, Clearfield, Utah.      Besides his parents, Bob was preceded in death by two sons, Robert Walter Jr. and Joseph Malin; and a sister-in-law, Francelle Adamavich.      In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place.      A memorial gathering for family and friends in celebration of Bob's life will be held Saturday, Oct. 23, from 1-5 p.m., at the Ronald Adamavich residence, 481 E. Houk St., in Ironwood.
