Ricky Eugene "Rick" Stenroos,
52, of Ironwood, died unexpectedly Monday, March 12, 2012, in Ironwood,
following a brief illness. He was born Oct. 18, 1959, in Ironwood, son of
the late Eugene and Gloria (Lehto) Stenroos, attended Southside Grade School in
Hurley, Wis., and graduated from J.E. Murphy High School in Hurley in 1978.
He worked as a machine operator at Smead Manufacturing in Hastings, Minn. for 22
years, then returned to the area, where he was employed as a custodian at Action
Floors in Mercer, Wis. up until the time of his death. Ricky was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church
in Ironwood. He enjoyed woodworking, bicycle riding, four-wheeling and camping,
and especially enjoyed spoiling his granddaughter. On Aug. 25, 1979, he was united in marriage to
Lynne Marie Mattson at the First Presbyterian Church in Bessemer, by the Rev.
George Hunt. Lynne survives. Also surviving are two sons, Leander and
Gregory, both of Bozeman, Mont.; a daughter, Candice (Russell) Bruneau,
Ironwood; his granddaughter, Mya Bruneau; six brothers, Roger (Linda), Ashland,
Wis., Rodney (Jill), Hastings, Minn., Daryl (Lourdes), Las Vegas, Glenn
(Johann), Ironwood, Duane, Blandon, Penn., and Scott (Nola), Superior, Wis.; a
sister, Donna (Louis) Amell, Las Vegas; his mother-in-law, Gail Mattson,
Hurley; numerous nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Geri Stenroos, South
Beloit, Wis.; and brother-in-law, Darrell (Kim) Mattson, Red Wing,
Minn. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death
by a brother, Daniel, in 2009; and his father-in-law, Roland Mattson, in
2007. Per Ricky's wishes, cremation has taken
place. A memorial gathering will be held at a later
