Ricky Eugene Baross, 50, of Eagan, Minn., and formerly of Ironwood, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007, in his home. He was born Nov. 22, 1956, in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., son of the late Virgil and Geraldine (Smiddy) Baross, and attended local schools and Luther L. Wright High School. He worked for Local 1329 out of Iron Mountain in construction in the Range area, and was employed in Mercer, Wis. for a short time. He was then employed as a driver for DHL in Ironwood, transferring to Minneapolis and working there at the time of his death. Ricky's passion was the Minnesota Vikings. His favorite rock groups were REO Speedwagon and Styx. Surviving are a daughter, Holly Baross, Bessemer, and two sons, Nathan, Camp Lejeune, N.C., and Ryan, Bessemer; four brothers, Randy, Manitowish Waters, Wis., James, Ironwood, Virgil (Kristy), Superior, Wis., and Daniel (Carla), Ironwood; six sisters, Teresa (Keith) Rock, Ironwood, Debra J. (Mark) Gianunzio, Hurley, Debra I. "Haikki" Benjamin (Frank Lahti), Montreal, Wis., Patti (James) Milnar, Oakdale, Minn., Tina (Donald) Grbavcich, Ironwood, and Lori Ann (John) Grasso, Bessemer; his mother, Delores Baross, Ironwood; several aunts and uncles, and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Ricky was preceded in death by a nephew, Timothy Lee Rock in 1973. Cremation has taken place. Friends may visit with Ricky's family at a memorial gathering to be held Friday, Oct. 12, from 1 to 3 p.m., at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N. Lowell St., in Ironwood.
