Richard G. White, 92, of Ironwood, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at the Aspirus Ironwood Hospital.
Richard was born on September 25, 1932, in Morse, Wisconsin, to Antone and Ida (Flink) White. He served in the US Navy from 50'-53, stationed in the Mediterranean. On July 21, 1956, he was united in marriage with Marlene Miller at Trinity Lutheran Church in Glidden, Wisconsin. Richard retired from the White Pine Mine after 36 years of employment.
Richard loved to keep busy with field work on his John Deere tractor at his home. He also enjoyed woodworking, making rocking chairs, furniture, and bird houses for his family. He also liked gardening, reading, deer hunting, and spending time with his family and friends.
Richard is survived by his five children, Dale (Jean) White, Jon (Yvonne) White, Patti (Gene) Alexander, Tammie (Joe) DeRasmi, and Paula (Joe) Charbonneau; his sister, Judy Lawver; nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren, and special nephew Tony. He is further survived by other nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife Marlene, brothers; Floyd, Melvin, Jack, Donald, and Tony; sisters, Florence, Bernice, Jean, and Jane.
Visitation for Richard will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home in Ironwood. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Mike Hill officiating and military honors conducted by the Ironwood American Legion Post #5. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Erwin Township Historical Society https://www.erwinheritage.org, Gogebic Ontonagon Community Action Agency www.gocaa.org, or the Ironwood American Legion Post #5.
