Richard L. Thomas, 80, of Watersmeet, and previously of Manistique, passed away on Friday, August 9, 2024.

Richard was born the son of Russell and Loretta (Lamourie) Thomas. He was a 1962 graduate of Manistique High School. Richard served and was honorably discharged from the US Navy, serving in the Caribbean, Europe, the Middle East, and Vietnam. He retired in 2013 from the nuclear power industry after 37 years as a nuclear quality control inspector. Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing cribbage. He was a Freemason and a member of the American Legion.

Richard is survived by his daughters, Kristine (Ed) LaCount, and Karen Burch; seven grandchildren, Aiden Burch, Joseph Burch, Jacob Burch, Aspyn Burch, Katie (Jason) Hanahan, Marie (James) Gollnick, and Maggie (Bo) Hansen; brother, James; and his loving sister, JoAnne. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, and his daughter, Sheila Rose Thomas.

No formal services are taking place. Entombment will be held at Lakeview Cemetery in Manistique, Michigan.
