Richard F. "Dick" Kadrlik, 60,
of Mercer, died unexpectedly Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012, in his home. He was born May 19, 1952, in Park Falls, son
of the late John and Lillian (Stejskal) Kadrlik, and attended Butternut
schools. Dick worked as a cheesemaker in Butternut and
Lynn, as a logger for Lux Forest Products of Mercer for many years, for the Town
of Mercer and Mercer Lumber Co., for Butch Pemble at LP Logging, and in
maintenance at the Great Northern Motel in Mercer, retiring in June 2012. He
also served six years in the Wisconsin National Guard and was honorably
discharged in Oct. 1977. His interests in his younger years included hunting
and fishing, pitching horseshoes, and playing softball. He was married to the former Darlene Weis of
Butternut for 25 years. Surviving are two sons, Jeff (Cary) and Bill,
both of Hurley; a daughter, Angela (Bill) Liewald, Mercer; two grandchildren,
Logan and Miley Kadrlik; four brothers, Jim, Green Valley, Ariz., John (Kathy),
Mercer, Ted, Rapid City, So. Dak., and Bob, Butternut; two sisters, Louise
(Rick) Smith, St. Anthony, Idaho, and Ellie (Harry) McKittrick, Cicero, Ill.;
his mother-in-law, Joan Weis, Butternut; brothers-and-sisters-in-law, Gary and
Marge Weis, Butternut, David Weis, Antigo, Steve and Deanna Weis, Wausau,
Michael and Mikki Weis, Stevens Point, Kathy Follis, Washburn, Diane and Doug
Rein, Glidden, Barbara and Dan Peterson, Eau Claire, Sherrie Kadrlik, Richmond,
Va., and Roger Hollon, Hill City, So. Dakota; numerous nieces and nephews; and
his old hound dog, Charlie. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death
by a brother, Joe; and two sisters, Mary Kadrlik in infancy and Elizabeth
Hollon. Out of respect for the family's wishes,
cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held Saturday, Aug.
18, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic
Church in Mercer, with Deacon Norbert Brossmer officiating. Rite of Committal will take place at the
church, with luncheon to follow in the parish hall. Private interment will be in St. Cecilia's
Cemetery, Butternut, at a later date. Dick's obituary may be viewed online and
