Paul Earl Cyr, Ironwood
Paul Cyr, 96, of Ironwood, Michigan, passed away with his family by his side on July 18th, 2023.
He was born August 7th, 1926, to Paul William and Agnes Gertrude (Granger) Cyr.
Paul was a man of many interests, including belonging to the boxing club at Cretin high school in St. Paul, MN, where he won the golden gloves tournament. A Boy Scouts Leader here in Ironwood Township, The President of the PTA at Roosevelt school, was involved in the bowling league, and caller for square dancing: an avid hunter, fisherman, and woodworker.
A hard-working man, he worked as a general works utility worker at White Pine mine for 20 years. Also worked for 15 years at the "family" business, the Wilbert vault company.
Not to mention a proud WW2 veteran of the U.S. Navy working as a Coxswain/Boatswain mate on the USS Rockwell.
Paul is predeceased by his Parents, Paul Cyr Sr. and Agnes Cyr, as well as his sister Peggy Schmitt.
He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Joan Carroll (LaClair) Cyr; sister LaDonna (Cyr) Kleven; sons John, Gary, and Brian (Ann) Cyr; Daughter Paula (Cyr) Kevin Schluck. Grandchildren Marie, Tracy (David), Jenifer, Kristen, Rebecca, Jody (Brad), Megan (Jay), Jeremy, Derrick (Laura), and Shane (Lynn).
Great-grandchildren Jesse, Jack, Elizabeth, Joshua, Benjamin, Ruth, Susannah, Verity, Honoree, Kindred, Caleb, Ava, Camden, Beauden, Watson, Soren, Calder, Dakota, and Tate
Great-great grandchildren Bria, Ben, Lemmy, Petra, and Kyle.
As well as many nieces, nephews, and friends who loved him very much.
The family would also like to thank the VA for many years of excellent support for Paul. We also want to thank Avanti Home Health, Regional Hospice Services, and the Aspirus Health Network.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
