Victor A. Paternoster, 77, of Hurley, died May 22 2007, in Hurley. He was born March 25, 1930 in Tregiovo, Italy, son of the late Amedao and Madeline (Pedri) Paternoster. When he was nine months old the family moved to Hurley, where he attended St. Mary's Grade School and graduated from Hurley High School in 1948. After high school he worked for the U.S. Postal Service and then enetered the U.S. Army in 1952, where he served a tour in Korea. On Aug. 18, 1956, Vic married Gail Soine at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley by the late Rev. Dabruzzi. Gail survives. He then worked at Meyer's Sausage Company, and a was a fire steward for the city of Hurley. He then worked for the U.S.P.S. again, retiring on Oct. 2, 1987. Victor enjoyed musky fishing on the Gile Flowage, hunting and planting a vegetable garden. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan enjoyed playing cribbage with family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all. Also surviving are three sons, Michael (Tami), Pence, Robert (Judy), Kimball and Gary (Christine), Buhl, Minn.: nine grandchildren, Kimberly (Steve Binz) Paternoster, Tracy (Ben) Romanowski, Jauntae Rodier, Molly (Jessie Zaleski) Rodier, Bobbi Jo, Kyle, Cory, Eric and Amy Paternoster; a brother Guido, Dearborn, Mich.; a sister Mary DeZur, Hurley. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by sister-in-law Beatrice Paternoster; a brother- in-law, John DeZur, ; mother-in-law, Mayme Valery; and a granddaughter, Patty Paternoster. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, May 25, at 11 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Michael Hayden, celebrant. Visitation will be from 10 AM Friday until time of Mass at the church. Cremation will follow. Inurnment at St. Mary's Cemetery, Hurley, will be announced at a later date. Military rites will be accorded by the Hurley VFW Post 1580 Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Eric, Kyle and Jim Paternoster and Dick DeZur. Arrangements are with the McKevitt-Patrick and Engstrom Funeral and Cremation Services of Ironwood and Hurley.
