Obituary

Neil P. Hamrick, age 81, of Mercer, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, May 1, 2025.

Born in Marlinton, West Virginia, Neil was the son of Arden and Sadie (Woods) Hamrick. After graduating from high school, he served proudly in the United States Navy aboard the USS Queenfish as a nuclear reactor operator.

He was united in marriage with Linda Glerum at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Neil spent 40 years with Westinghouse, where he retired as a manager in the nuclear division.

A devoted member of St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in Mercer, Neil gave generously of his time, including volunteering at the Mercer food pantry. He had a deep passion for collecting antique weaponry and clocks, especially enjoying the craft of clock restoration. His sarcastic wit and unusual sense of humor made him unforgettable to those who knew him.

Neil is survived by his loving wife, Linda (Glerum) Hamrick, and their four children: Lori Gerlach of Racine, WI, Jen (Ryan) Witt of Shoreline, WA, Jacob Hamrick of Green Bay, WI, Sarah (Robert Ireland) Hamrick of Kenosha, WI. He is also survived by his sister, Sandra Harlow; six grandchildren: Jacob Brooks, Aiden Witt, Carson Witt, Harrison Ireland, Eli Ireland, and Reid Ireland; and one great-grandchild, Willow Brooks.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son-in-law, Tom Gerlach; and his brothers-in-law, Ed Harlow and Larry Zoerner.

A celebration of Neil's life will be held at a later date.
