Obituary

Mildred M. "Millie" Holman, 97, of Hurley, Wis., passed away  Friday, Feb. 5, 2010.      The youngest and last of 13 children, Mildred was born Jan. 5, 1913, in Hurley, daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Stenman) Dahl.      She graduated from Hurley High School and attended Superior State Teachers College.      She was married to Albert Holman who preceded her in death on Nov. 19, 1967.      Millie was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hurley. An avid bowler, she bowled in range area leagues in her younger years. She also served as a volunteer for the American Red Cross, enjoyed embroidery, playing cards, and music.  She had a beautiful speaking and singing voice.  She was a kind person who especially enjoyed spending time with her family.      Surviving are a daughter, Jean Ware, of Santa Barbara, Calif.; three grandchildren, Janice (Edward) Chelini, San Jose, Calif., Walter "Skip" Ware Jr., Goleta, Galif., and Michael (Helen) Ware, Santa Barbara; four great-grandchildren, Anthony, Garrett, Kristopher and Brennan; and numerous nieces and nephews.       Besides her parents and husband, Millie was preceded in death by a son, Jack Holman; step-children, Willis Holman and Ellerine Holman; and 12 brothers and sisters.      The family would like to thank the many people who assisted with her care, especially Ruth Ekmark, Diana Swanson, Gary Swanson, Cathy Ofstad, Bruce Swanson, Shannon Ofstad, and Nancy Skoviera.      Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 10, at 11 a.m., at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N. Lowell St., in Ironwood, with the Rev.
