Mickey J. Thompson, 53, passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at his home in Mercer, Wisconsin.

Mick attended the University of Wisconsin-Superior and received a Bachelor of Science in History (1993), attended Webster University and received a Masters of Computer Resources and Information Management (2005), and attended the USAF Air Command and Staff College (2005).

As a US Air Force Officer, Mick served three wartime efforts and retired as a Major with honors after 20 years of service. In 1995, he was stationed in Germany as an IT/Cyber Communications lead and supported the Bosnian War. In 2006, he was stationed at the Multi-National Security Transition Command in Baghdad, Iraq, and received a Bronze Star Award. In 2011, he served as Deputy of the ISAF Joint Command (IJC) Communication Directorate in Kabul, Afghanistan, and received a Bronze Star Award.

For leisure, Mick enjoyed listening to music, especially the 80s, playing Trivial Pursuit, metal detecting, and traveling to historical sites. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and was legendary at making spicy beef jerky. On a personal note, Mick was a kind-hearted, brilliant, sincere friend who loved to talk, listen, and crack witty jokes.

Mickey was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and sister Deborah.

Mickey was born December 8, 1969, to William and Genevieve (Modjeski) Thompson. He is survived by three children, Chloe Thompson (22), Jack Thompson (20), and Kevin Thompson (20). He is survived by two brothers, Randy Thompson and Tim (Laurie) Thompson, and sister, Billie (Christopher) Babcock, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Mickey will be laid to rest at the Dayton National Cemetery.
