Michele Elaine Skovera, 72, of Ironwood, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026, at St. Mary’s Essentia Health in Duluth.

Michele was born on February 1, 1954, in Ironwood to Michael and Patricia (Grooms) Skovera. She was a 1972 graduate of L.L. Wright High School in Ironwood, and went on to receive her Bachelor’s degree in teaching from Marquette University and later earned three master's degrees. Michele was a teacher in the Grand Rapids area. After retirement, she moved back to Ironwood and would help substitute teach.

Michele was an avid reader and was a co-author of a children’s book. She also enjoyed learning about her family’s genealogy and gardening. Michele also enjoyed riding her new side-by-side.

She is survived by her sister, Terry Ruby of Ironwood; two brothers, Mark (Linda) Skovera of Tallahassee, Fl, and Russell (Carol) Skovera of Ironwood; nieces and nephew, Lisa Campbell, Paula DeCicco, Kristine Biermeier, and Will Graves; cousin, Susan Colle, her two cats, Maisy Mae and Maddy Mae; along with many great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Michele was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Patty Skovera, and her nephew, Scott Peterson.

Michele will be missed by her family, great friends, and classmates.

Following Michele’s wishes, no formal services are taking place.
