Meredith "Rusty" Rock, 63,
of Ironwood, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, at Marquette General Hospital in
Marquette. He was born Aug. 2, 1949, in Bessemer
Township, son of the late Meredith and Vina (Moore) Rock, and attended Bessemer
schools and A.D. Johnston High School. He was employed at White Pine Copper Co. for
many years until the mine closed, then at Twin City Cab. Co. in Ironwood,
retiring due to ill health in 2008. He enjoyed reading and coffee klatching at
the Breakwater. Rusty was married to Johann Valenti of Hurley,
Wis. They later divorced. He then married Phyllis Jodell on March 24,
1973, in Superior, Wis. She preceded him in death on Sept. 6, 2008. Surviving are a son, Keith "Bubba", Ironwood;
three daughters, Sherry Olney, Otter Lake, Carmen (Bob) Burrows, Ontonagon, and
Jodi (John) Perry, Bucyrus, Ohio; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two
brothers, James and Keith (Terry), both of Ironwood; three sisters, Virginia
Garrett, Galesburg, Jean Hansmann, South Dakota, and Josephine Linn, Norman,
Okla.; maternal uncle, Milford (Georgia) Moore, Saxon, Wis.; and numerous nieces
and nephews. Per Rusty's wishes, cremation has taken
place. Graveside committal services and
interment will be held Friday, Oct. 19, at 11 a.m., at Sunset Acres Cemetery in
Ironwood Township, with Deacon Larry Oehlerking officiating. Arrangements are with McKevitt-Patrick Funeral
