Melvin Andrew Wakkinen, Jr., 70, of Marinesco, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at his home.

Melvin was born to Melvin Sr. and Lucille (Lipske) Wakkinen on February 4, 1956, in Ironwood, Michigan. Melvin was a jack of all trades, master of none. He was a busybody who loved tinkering on anything from small engines to woodworking, and everything in between.

Melvin is survived by his daughter, Christy Wakkinen; grandchildren, Tristan Wakkinen, Hunter Richter, Gina Evers, Justin Greenburg, Mariah Greenburg Serenity (Great Grand Daughter), Treyvan Greenburg,Kevin Wakkinen, Isaiah Wakkinen, Reece Wakkinen, Farrah Wakkinen; significant other, Michelle Wakkinen; his brother, George (Judy) Wakkinen; sister, Marylee Alexander Helen Smallwood. Melvin is further survived by nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded by his mother, Lucille; father, Melvin Sr.; brother, James Wakkinen; and his sister, Sandra Niemi.

Following Melvin’s wishes, no formal services are taking place.
