Mary M. Sloma, 87, of 420 N. Hemlock St., Ironwood, Mich., died Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010, at Northern Lights Health Care Center in Washburn.       The former Mary M. O'Berto was born Oct. 26, 1922, in Hurley, the daughter of the late John and Ermelinda (Cerva) O'Berto. She attended Ironwood schools, and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1940. She then received an associate's degree in business from Gogebic Community College in Ironwood in 1942.       Mary was employed as a secretary at Newport School in Ironwood for one year, and as a secretary at Michigan Bell Telephone Co. until 1947.       She was married to Leonard L. Sloma on Feb. 15, 1947, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Ironwood, by the late Msgr. J.B. Moriarity. Leonard preceded her in death on April 25, 1992.       Mary was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood. She enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling with her daughter Paula and her husband, Bill. She also enjoyed attending local theatre productions and going out to lunch with friends.       Surviving are two daughters, Melinda (David) Kostac Sr., Ironwood, and Paula (William) Eskola, Washburn; two grandchildren, David Kostac Jr., Kimball, and Kristie (Ron) Nygard, Ironwood; four great-grandchildren, Devin, Bailey and Tanner Kostac, and Ron Nygard III; a sister, Anna Wick, Lemon Grove, Calif.; her special furry granddogs: Buddy, Digit, Chip and Toby; her cousin, Marian (Henry) McDonald, Danville, Calif., and numerous brothers-and-sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.       Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, John O'Berto, and a brother in infancy.       Out of respect for Mary's wishes, cremation has taken place.       A private graveside service and committal, with inurnment to follow, will be held this summer in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood.       Condolences may be given to Mary's family online, and her obituary viewed, at www.mckevittpatrickfuneralhome.com .       Arrangements are entrusted to McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Ironwood.
