Obituary

Mary C. Rubatt, 89, of Hurley, was Born to Etermal Life early Wednesday morning, Feb.27, 2008, in Hurley. She was born May 1, 1918, in Hurley, daughter of the late John and Jennie (Moletta) Rubatt, and graduated from Lincoln High School in Hurley in June, 1936. She then attended the Woodward Business College in Ironwood, Mich. She was hired by the Board of Education, Hurley Joint School District in May 1942 as Secretary to Superintendents, Mr. J. E. Murphy, Mr. H.F. Connors, Mr. James Mezzano, Jr., Mr. Paul Dorow, Mr Richard Lusa, and Mr. Santino Castagna. The Hurley School District honored her with a banquet on retirement, Sept. 15, 1982. Mary was an avid bowler, and enjoyed baking, gardening, knitting and crocheting. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley and the Rosary Group, visiting the two nursing homes weekly in Hurley. Survivors include three nephews, James (Nancy) Rubatt, Scottsdale, AZ, John (Carol) Rubatt, Menomonee Falls, Wis., and Jerome (Katherine) Rubatt, Coon Rapids, Minn.; and eight grand nieces and grand nephews, Dr. Jennifer Rubatt, Durham, NC, Daniel, Matthew and Adam Rubatt, Menomonee Falls, Joshua and Rachel Rubatt, Coon Rapids, and Bryan and Nicholas Rubatt, Scottsdale. Besides her parents, two brothers preceded her in death, James Rubatt, an infant, and Joseph Anthony Rubatt on Nov. 19, 1994; and a sister-in-law, Emily Rubatt. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, March 3, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley, with the Rev. Michael Hayden, celebrant. Rite of Committal will be held at the church, with luncheon to follow in the parish hall. Spring burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hurley. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the Mass on Monday.
