Mary K. Rigoni, 88, a resident at the Villa Vista in Hurley,
died peacefully Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, in her apartment, with her family by
her side. The former Mary K. Corullo was born April 26,
1924, in Bessemer, Mich., daughter of the late Vincent and Jennie (Pertile)
Corullo, attended Bessemer schools, and graduated from A. D. Johnston High
School in 1942. Following high school, she worked at the Ben Franklin Store in
Bessemer, then moved to Chicago, where she was employed during World War II at
Foote Bros., a defense plant, making airplane parts. On Oct. 12, 1946, she was united in marriage
to Christopher G. Rigoni at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Bessemer, by the
late Rev. Charles Swoboda. They then made their home in Kimball. Chris preceded
her in death on June 13, 2009. Mary was employed as a seamstress at Eva
Wurl's in downtown Ironwood, Mich. for 16 years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley and its
Council of Catholic Women, and enjoyed crafts, sewing, needlework, knitting and
crocheting. Surviving are two sons, David (Pat),
Minneapolis, and Jim, Green Bay; two daughters, Pat Rigoni, Hilbert, and Kathy
(Steve) Harma, Ironwood; four grandchildren, Kari (Erik) Dennis, Rochester
Hills, Mich., Kristin Harma (Ron Gryniewicz), Howell, Mich., and Carli
Rigoni and Daniel Rigoni, both of Grand Rapids, Minn.; three
great-grandchildren, Chance Rigoni, and Reid and Leah Dennis; two brothers,
Aldo "Cutso" (Phyllis) Corullo, Bessemer, and Peter (Marge) Fin,
Minocqua; sisters-in-law, Ruth Rigoni, Kimball, and Lenore Corullo, Bessemer; a
brother-in-law, Bill Rigoni, Venice, Fla.; and numerous nieces and
nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Mary was
preceded in death by three brothers, Domenic, Albin and Joe Corullo; and a
sister, Vicky Takala. Out of respect for her wishes, cremation has
taken place. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
Wednesday, Sept. 5, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at St. Mary's
Catholic Church in Hurley, with the Rev. Frank Kordek OFM,
celebrant. Luncheon will follow in the parish
hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to
