Mary Blanche (Rynda) Mazzon, 83,
of Ironwood, Mich., died peacefully Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at the Aspirus
Hospice House in Wausau. Mary was born May 15, 1929, in
Ironwood, daughter of the late James and Blanche (Salzman) Rynda, and graduated
from St. Ambrose High School. She married Eugene Anthony "Amy" Mazzon on May
3, 1952, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Ironwood. He predeceased her on Sept.
10, 2004. Mary was previously employed as bookkeeper at
Carlson's Supermarket in downtown Ironwood for 30 years until her retirement in
1991. She was a talented pianist/organist who played for weddings, funerals and
Masses at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood, where she was a
lifelong member. Her hobbies included reading, sewing, knitting, doing puzzles,
drinking a good glass of wine and going to the casino. She enjoyed a round of
golf with her husband Amy, always working toward the 19th hole. Survivors include her four children, Mary Gene
Salvesen, of Aniwa, Barbara "Bobbie" (James) Kucera, Ironwood, Jim (Tammy)
Mazzon, Woodbury, Minn., and Mark (Stephanie) Mazzon, Bessemer, Mich.; nine
grandchildren, Erin and Matt (Rebecca) Salvesen, Jimmy Kucera, Kayla, Kelsey, Sam and
Megan Mazzon, and Jess and Cade Mazzon; four great-grandchildren, Ian, Rory,
Milo and Monty Salvesen; a brother, Robert (Ann) Rynda, Milwaukee;
sister-in-law, Virginia (Don) Karvonen, Ironwood; brother-in-law, Robert
Carlson, Minocqua; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Mary was
preceded in death by a brother, Don Rynda; son-in-law, Robert Salvesen;
sisters-in-law, Kathleen Carlson and Bonnie Rynda ; and brother-and-sister-in-law, Thomas and
Verene Gardner. Out of respect for her wishes, cremation has
taken place. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
Thursday, Feb. 21, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation in the St. Joseph Family
Room beginning at 9:30 a.m., at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood,
with the Rev. Robb Jurkovich, celebrant. Luncheon will follow in the parish
hall. Rite of Committal and interment will be in
