Mary A. Chiapusio, 92, of 410
3rd Ave. So., Southgate Village Apts., Hurley, Wis., died unexpectedly of an
apparent heart attack Monday, April 9, 2012, in Ironwood. The former Mary Re was born July 6, 1919, in
Bessemer, daughter of the late Peter and Catherine (Pennetti) Re, attended
Bessemer schools, and graduated from A. D. Johnston High School in
1936. She worked at Abelman's in Bessemer and J.C.
Penney Co. in downtown Ironwood. On Oct. 26, 1946, she was married to Alfred
Giuliano at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Bessemer by the late Rev. Charles
Swoboda. Alfred preceded her in death on Feb. 3, 1948. She married John B. Chiapusio on July 25,
1951. He preceded her in death on June 18, 1993. Mary was a member of St. Mary's Catholic
Church in Hurley. An avid bowler, she bowled in women's leagues at the American
Legion Lanes in Hurley for many years. She was also a wonderful cook and enjoyed
going to the casino with friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with her
family. Surviving are two sons and a daughter, Jim
(Karen) Giuliano and Ronald Chiapusio (Jenny Madden), both of Hurley, and
Shirley (David) Lipske, Sussex, Wis.; seven grandchildren, Gina (Jeff) Madden,
Green Bay, Wis., James (Courtney) Giuliano Jr., Belgium, Wis., Heather (Ryan)
Susen, Sheboygan, Wis., Ronald Chiapusio Jr., Arlington, Va., Brent Chiapusio,
Milwaukee, Kenneth (Kim) Lipske, Merton, Wis., and Kevin (Nicole) Lipske, Erin,
Wis.; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; sister-in-laws, Eda
Hanson, Ruth Giuliano and Celia Re DeLeon; and numerous nieces and
nephews. Beside her parents and husbands, Mary was
preceded in death by a granddaughter, Laurie Ann Lipske; two brothers, Joe and
John Re; and two sisters, Mamie Vanholla and Josephine Kickhafer. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has
taken place. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
Monday, April 16, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at St. Mary's
Church in Hurley, with the Rev. Frank Kordek OFM, celebrant. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in
St. Mary's Cemetery, Hurley. Lunch will be served in the parish hall
