Mary Ann Burzinski, 76, of
the Villa Vista in Hurley, Wis., died unexpectedly Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at
Aspirus Grand View Hospital in Ironwood. The former Mary Ann Maxinoski was born May 7,
1936, in Ironwood, daughter of the late Axel and Genevieve (Shea) Maxinoski,
attended grade school in Montreal, Wis., and graduated from J.E. Murphy High
School in Hurley in 1954. She then was employed as a sales clerk at the J.C.
Penney Co. in downtown Ironwood for ten years. On Aug. 10, 1963, she was married to Isadore
J. "Buzz" Burzinski at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley by the late Msgr.
Michael Prock. Isadore preceded her in death on Nov. 23, 2009. Mary Ann was a member of St. Mary's Church in
Hurley. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading and traveling. Surviving are a daughter, Janice (Jeff)
Skoviera, and two grandchildren, Stephanie and Ryan Skoviera, all of Ironwood;
two sisters, Audrey (Steve) Skoviera, Ironwood, and Alice Burke, Mission Viejo,
Calif.; brother-in-law, Albert (Jean) Burzinski, Ironwood; sisters-in-law,
Delores Burzinski, Eagle River, Wis., and Eleanor (Frank) Machovsky,
Minneapolis; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Mary Ann was
preceded in death by a son, Mark, in 1996; brother, Robert Maxinoski; and
sister, Geraldine Dombrowski. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has
taken place. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at St.
Mary's Church in Hurley, with the Rev. Frank Kordek OFM, celebrant. Luncheon will follow at the Liberty Bell
Chalet in downtown Hurley. Rite of Committal and interment will be in St.
Mary's Cemetery, Hurley, in the spring. Condolences may be given to Mary Ann's family
