Marlyss J. Lampart, 72, of
Ironwood, went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012,
surrounded by her loving family, at Aspirus Grand View Hospital in Ironwood,
following a lengthy illness. The former Marlyss Newberg was born March 30,
1940, in Ironwood, daughter of the late John and Dorothy (Matthews) Newberg,
attended A.L. Norrie Grade School, and graduated from Luther L. Wright High
School in 1958. She was employed at Hamachek's Drug Store in
downtown Ironwood, owned and operated M & J's Drive-In on Cloverland Drive,
managed the Pizza Hut and Holiday Gas Station, worked as a chef at Little Italy
Supper Club on U.S. 2 between Ironwood and Bessemer, and owned and operated
Lampart's School of Music for 30 years as well as worked as an attendant for
Care-A-Van in Ironwood, retiring in 2009. Marlyss was a faithful member of the
Lighthouse Faith Center in Ironwood, where she taught Sunday school and was an
integral part of the music ministry for many years. She was an excellent cook
and was known for her homemade pasta and pizza pasties. She also enjoyed flower
and vegetable gardening, and loved spending time with her
grandchildren. Surviving are her daughter, Tami (Jamie)
Chiapuzio, Ironwood Township; two grandchildren, Kayla (Sean) Palmeter,
Marquette, and Noel Chiapuzio, Ironwood Township; sister, Marjean (Dan)
Pitrone, Bessemer; niece, Tara (Keith) Graham, Bessemer; nephews, Dustin
(Kellie) Pitrone, Bessemer, and Dylan Pitrone, Minneapolis; special friends, Sue
Tinoco, Wakefield, and Colleen Heckathorn, Ironwood; and beloved Teddy Bear
Chihauhas, Tiffany, Dusty and Faith Ann. Out of respect for Marlyss' wishes, cremation
has taken place. Memorial services will be held Saturday, Oct.
20, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at the Lighthouse Faith
Center, 777 E. Ayer St., in Ironwood, with the Rev. Tom Rouse,
pastor, officiating. Committal will take place at the church, with
luncheon to follow in the church fellowship hall. Private interment will be in Riverside
Cemetery, Ironwood. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to
the H.O.P.E. Animal Shelter, 590 Easy St., Ironwood, MI 49938. Arrangements are entrusted to McKevitt-Patrick
