Obituary

Marion A. Alleva, 88, recently of St. Croix Falls and formerly of Ironwood, Mich., passed away peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010, at the St. Croix Regional Medical Center in St. Croix Falls.      The former Marion Cvengros was born Oct. 14, 1921 in Ironwood, daughter of the late Joseph and Julia (Smelko) Cvengros, and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1939. She worked for many years in Chicago for the Wrigley Company in the payroll department and as a proofreader for the Ironwood Daily Globe.      She was a member of the Ironwood American Legion Post 5 Auxiliary and the Iron County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1580 Auxiliary for 60 + years, holding several offices and chairmanships. She was elected to the Board of Directors for the Senior Citizens Association of Iron County, and volunteered at the Hurley Senior Citizens Center.       Marion was married to Anthony "Tony" Alleva in August 1942. Her husband of 32 years preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 1974.      She was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Joseph, John, Frank and Edward Cvengros; and four sisters, Anne Yashus, Margaret Early, Amelia Heimsoth and Frances Peterson.      Marion leaves to celebrate her memory, sons, Bill (Pam) Alleva, Centuria, and Fred Alleva, Scottsdale, Ariz; a granddaughter, Nicolle (Jake) Eider, Lakeville, Minn.; and many much loved nieces and nephews.      Out of respect for her wishes, cremation has taken place.      A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 30, at 1 p.m., at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N. Lowell St., in Ironwood, with the Rev. Darryl J. Pepin, pastor of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood offciating.      Rite of Committal will take place at the funeral home, with luncheon to follow at the Iron Nugget in downtown Hurley.      Marion will be laid to rest with her husband in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hurley.      Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Saturday, Oct. 30.      In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the choice of the sender.      To view Marion's obituary online, sign the guestbook or express condolences, visit mckevittpatrickfuneralhome.com.      Arrangements are entrusted to McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Ironwood.
