Obituary

Margaret Ruth (nee Peterson) Warren, 93, of Hurley, died Sunday, Sept.11, 2011, in Hurley.      She was born and raised May 15, 1918, in Mellen, Wis., daughter, and ninth child of Yette and Christ Peterson. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mellen. She was also a member of Our Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ramsay, Mich. and currently Trinity Lutheran Church in Ironwood Township.      Margaret married (Toivo) Steven Warren in Mellen on Feb. 27, 1937. They had five children, Mary Carol Warren, Jean LaVerne Warren, Gerald Steven Warren (Mary Pat), Janice M. Nikula (Alvin), and Brian Scott Warren (George).      Margaret enjoyed many types of crafts including knitting and crocheting, quilt making, piece work, cross-stitch, painting, and more recently, making Christmas ornaments. She found beauty in everything and immensely enjoyed the arts, especially music, musicals, and plays. She was very fond of the music and performances of Marty's Goldenaires and she also ushered for Theater North. She collected a variety of things but was most proud of her dolls. Everyone who came to visit was treated to a display of her newest addition to the collection.      Margaret is survived by son Brian Scott Warren (George Henkel); Mary Pat Gustafson (nee McCarthy-Warren), Jim Gustafson; special sister-in-law Marguerite Bidgood (Jerry); brother-in-law Walter Warren; sister-in-law Dorothy (Eddy) Peterson; special granddaughter Lynne (Skip) Schaefer, Coreena (Dale) Kauffman, Timothy Grove, Stephen (Katie) Grove, William (Eileen Yaeger) Grove, Curtis (Heather) Nikula, Stephanie (Ramil) Codina, Melanie Warren, Tiffany (Mike) Warren; great-grandchildren, Amber Schaefer, Meghan Bradley, Samantha Schaefer, Zachary Schaefer, Travis Kauffman, Trenton Kauffman, Mitchell Grove, Alyssa Grove, Timmy Grove, Madison Grove, Sabastian Grove Yaeger, Colby Nikula, Haley Corrao, Dylan Corrao, Lauren Codina, Tyler Codina; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.      She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Steve, children, Mary Carol, Gerald, Jean, and Janice and son-in-law Alvin Nikula; three brothers, Lenard, Carl and Eddy; and five sisters, Jenny, Pearl, Ida, Elsie and Myrtle.      Out of respect for Margaret's wishes, cremation has taken place.      A memorial service will be held Friday, Sept. 16, at 11 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, 5104 E. Margaret St., in Ironwood, with the Rev. Wesley "Bo" Baumeister officiating.      Committal will take place at the church, with luncheon to follow in the church fellowship hall.      Private inurnment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Highbridge, Wis.      Relatives and friends may call at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday.      In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church.      Margaret's obituary can be viewed online and condolences given to her family at mckevittpatrickfuneralhome.com.      Arrangements are entrusted to McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Ironwood.
