Obituary

Margaret J. "Peg" Taraboi, 82, of 410 Lake Ave., Ironwood, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007, in Ironwood. The former Margaret McManman was born May 21, 1925, in Ironwood, daughter of the late John and Margaret (Sullivan) McManman, attended St. Ambrose Grade School, and graduated from St. Ambrose High School in 1943. She worked in Washington, D.C. and in Chicago for several years, and was employed with the Montgomery-Ward Co. in downtown Ironwood for many years, retiring in 1982. Peg was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood, where she served on the funeral lunch committee for several years, and was also a member of Eagle Bluff Golf Club in Hurley. She enjoyed golfing, cooking and baking. She was married to George R. Anderson on Aug. 10, 1948, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Ironwood, by the late Msgr. J.B. Moriarty. George preceded her in death on Dec. 25, 1968. She then was married to Albert J. Taraboi on Nov. 5, 1977, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley, by the late Rev. Clarence Ludwig. Albert preceded her in death on June 22, 2007. Surviving are two sons, Jerry (Sue) Anderson, Ironwood, and Paul (Jan) Anderson, Bloomington, Minn.; a daughter, Mary Anderson, Eden Prairie, Minn.; six grandchildren, Carla (Eric) Heiden, Medford, Wis., Jaime Anderson, Green Bay, Wis., Kyle Anderson, Superior, Wis., Kim Anderson (Jeremy Mattila), Bessemer, and Drew and Pete Anderson, Bloomington; two greatgrandchildren, Alivia and Cal Heiden; a sister, Pat Stetson, Hoyt Lakes, Minn.; a sister-in-law, Cathy McManman, Benton, Ky., and brother-in-law, Frank Sopko, Ironwood; two stepdaughters, Donna (Rodney "Bunter") Hewitt, Hurley, and Debra (Michael) Haberlein, Waukesha, Wis.; a stepdaughter-in-law, Dorsie Taraboi, Bloomington; seven step-grandchildren, Megan and Amanda Haberlein, Waukesha, Scott (Holly) Hewitt, Gile, Wis., Gina (Dempsey) Colasacco, Weston, Wis., Lisa Taraboi, LaJolla, Calif., Lynne Taraboi (Colin Brown), Bloomington, and Dean (Angela) Taraboi, Charlotte, N.C.; seven step-greatgrandchildren, Kylee Hewitt, Brayden and Carsen Colasacco, Mary Taraboi Brown, and Olivia, Sophia and Tony Taraboi; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husbands, Peg was preceded in death by a brother, John McManman; three sisters, Stella Decur, Ruth Cutcliff and Eileen Sopko; and a stepson, Dennis Taraboi. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Nov. 17, at 11 a.m., at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood, with the Rev. Darryl J. Pepin, celebrant. Rite of Committal will be in the St. Joseph Family Room at the church, with luncheon to follow in the parish hall. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood. Relatives and friends may call in the St. Joseph Family Room at the church beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.
