Obituary

Margaret C. Pavlovich, 91, 125 S. Mansfield St., Ironwood, died Friday morning, March 27, 2009, in Ironwood. The former Margaret Leskoviansky was born June 9, 1917, in Bessemer, daughter of the late Alexander and Julia (Krempaski) Leskoviansky, attended the Puritan School in Puritan Location and graduated from A.D. Johnston High School in 1935. She was employed at the McKevitt-Kershner-Patrick Co. and the S.S. Kresge Co. in downtown Ironwood for several years, and worked as a sales clerk at the J.C. Penney Co., also in downtown Ironwood, for many years, retiring in 1975. Margaret was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood and the former Holy Trinity Catholic Church, and belonged to the Daughters of Isabella. In her younger years, she volunteered as a Brownie Scout leader and was a member of the Ironwood Junior Woman's Club. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, baking, duplicate bridge, reading and swimming. She married John S. Pavlovich Jr. on June 21, 1941. He preceded her in death on Jan. 24, 1974. Surviving are two daughters, Jean (Joseph III) Till, Superior, Wis., and Julie (Craig) Nippet, Houston, Texas; four grandchildren, Joseph (Nicole) Till IV, Hudson, Wis., Bradley (Rachel) Till, Vienna, Austria, Gina (Matthew) Hoover, Denver, and Michael Nippet, Houston; a great-grandchild, Olivia Till, Hudson; a sister, Mary Lesky, Batavia, Ill.; sisters-in-law, Marguerite Pavlovich, Poplar, Wis., and Theresa Zandi, Ironwood; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Margaret was preceded in death by two brothers, Alexander and Joseph Leskoviansky; and a sister, Julia Moser. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 12, with the Rev. Darryl J. Pepin, celebrant. Rite of Committal will take place in the St. Joseph Family Room at the church. Inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood. Relatives and friends may call in the St. Joseph Family Room at the church one hour prior to Mass on Friday.
