Margaret A. "Peggy" Burd, 83,
of Ironwood, died Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011, in Ironwood, with her loving family by
her side, following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's Disease. The former Margaret Whyte was born Feb. 13,
1928, in Tonawanda, New York, daughter of the late Albert and Alice (McMullen)
Whyte, and came to Ironwood in June of 1960. She worked as a sales clerk at Sears in
downtown Ironwood and attended Gogebic Community College for two years. She
then was employed as a customer service representative for Lake Superior
District Power Co. until her retirement in 1989. An avid bowler, Peggy served as president of
the Ladies Bowling League in Ironwood for several years. She also enjoyed
gardening and the outdoors. Surviving are two daughters, Shari (Gary)
Anderson, Leesburg, Fla., and Pat Koslovich (Steve Bettis), Anchorage, Alaska; a
son, Tom, Superior, Wis.; five grandchildren, Todd Burd, Superior, Julie (James)
Finley, Ft. Dietrick, Md., Brian (Samantha) Koslovich, Surprise, Ariz., Becky
(Mike) Martello, Sitka, Alaska, and Tom (Sarah) Burd, Superior; four
great-grandchildren, Brandon Burd, Andrew and Aaron Finley, and Matthew
Koslovich; a sister-in-law, Bernice (Wayne) Wagner, Lockport, N.Y.; and two
nephews, Michael (Janice) Wagner, North Tonawanda, N.Y., and Tim (Linda) Wagner,
Rochester, N.Y. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death
by a brother, Gerald Whyte. In accordance with Peggy's wishes, cremation
has taken place. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, Nov.
8, at 1 p.m., preceded by visitation at noon, at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral
Home, 305 N. Lowell St., in Ironwood, with the Rev. Darryl J. Pepin, pastor of
Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood, officiating. Rite of Committal will take place at the
funeral home, with a reception to follow at Tacconelli's in downtown
Ironwood. Private interment will be in Mt. Olivet
Cemetery, North Tonawanda. Peggy's obituary can be viewed online and

years.
