Obituary

M. Faye Comparin, 78, of 125 Poplar St., Ironwood, was born to eternal life Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008, in Ironwood, surrounded by her loving family, following a lengthy illness. The former M. Faye Koscielny was born March 14, 1930, in Ironwood, daughter of the late Frank and Ida (Smith) Koscielny, attended Central Grade School, and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1948. She worked as a clerk at the F.W. Woolworth Co. in downtown Ironwood, and was employed for five years as a telephone operator for Michigan Bell Telephone Co. She also took in foster children for several years in the 1960's. She enjoyed her home, traveling and flower gardening, and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ironwood. Faye's time on this earth was a gift to all the people who were a part of her life. She shared so freely of herself with friends, family and perfect strangers. Her bright smile and contagious laugh were just two of the gifts you knew she would share when in her company. Faye was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and surrogate mother to many others. "Mamma Faye", as she was so often called, had many "kids". Her wonderful stories will forever be treasured and she will be sadly missed. On Oct. 22, 1955, Faye married Dean Comparin in Bessemer. He survives. Also surviving are a son, Jerry (Peggy), and daughter, Karen (Christopher) Kitchen, both of Ironwood; four grandchildren, Alyson, Ryan, Jacob and Matt; three great grandchildren, Hailey, Emily and Matt Jr.; brothers-and-sisters-in-law, Robert and Ida Comparin, Blacksburg, VA, and Tony and Pat Comparin, Ironwood; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, Faye was preceded in death by a son, Dean F., Dec. 12, 1991; and her sister, Jean Marie Koscielny, in 1922. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 10, at 11 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ironwood, with the Rev. Wesley Baumeister officiating. Committal will take place at the church, with luncheon to follow in the church fellowship hall. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood. Relatives and friends may call at the church from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Wednesday. Pallbearers will be Jerry, Tony and Michael Comparin, Christopher Kitchen and Jacob Moore. Memorial contributions may be made to Regional Hospice, N-10561 Grandview Lane, Ironwood Mich. 49938, or Trinity Lutheran Church, 5104 E. Margaret St., Ironwood, Mich. 49938.
