Lynn "Bud" Fisher, 90,
of Watersmeet, died Monday, Dec. 19, 2011, at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical
Center in Iron Mountain, MI. Bud was born in Chicago, Ill. on Oct. 8, 1921,
son of the late Lynn G. and Mabel Mildred Fisher. Bud's father died when he was
two years old. His mother remarried when Bud was ten years old. He attended
Tilden Technical High School. At the age of 21, he was drafted into the Army
Air Force and shortly thereafter married Eleanor Kazlausky. He was very proud of
his time in the military. He was sent to England, where he served as an armorer
in the Eighth Air Force, 490th Bomb Group, 848th Bomb Squadron. During his time
there he invented a bomb hoist to more efficiently load the bombs onto B-17s. On
Oct. 8, 1945, he was honorably discharged and returned to live with his wife in
Chicago. Bud then opened his own car repair business
and lived in the Chicago area until 1965, when he and his wife decided to live a
quieter life in the upper peninsula of Michigan. Bud was very content with
earning a living by doing odd jobs for residents in the Clearwater Lake area
where they lived. He especially enjoyed puttering around in his own garage and
rebuilding Jeeps from the Second World War. Ten years after Eleanor passed, Bud
married Mary Ann Caron. They lived happily until her death in
2007. Bud was a member of Watersmeet American Legion
Post 417 and Land O'Lakes VFW Post 8400. Surviving are a sister, Carolyn (Louis)
Viverito, Burbank, Ill.; nephew, Dean Viverito, Burbank; two nieces, Diane
Viverito, LaGrange Park, Ill., and Marianne Viverito Chmela, Oak Lawn, Ill.;
five great-nephews; special friends, Kathy Stupak-Thrall and Larry Garrison,
both of Watersmeet; and many other close friends who were helpful to Bud. His
family will be forever grateful for all the love, respect and help shown by
those friends, and to the VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain for all their care
and compassion for Bud during his final days. Funeral
services will be held Saturday, May 19th at 11 a.m. at the
Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watersmeet, with the Rev. George Maki, officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church. Committal services and interment will follow
in the Watersmeet Township Cemetery, where full military rites will be accorded
by the combined Watersmeet American Legion Post 417 and Land O'Lakes VFW Post
8400 Honor Guard. Bud's obituary can be viewed online and
